Business City Guide: Stockholm restaurants
Stockholm comes alive after dark. The capital has a surprising number and variety of top-notch restaurants. Although they can be pricey, you do experience the best cuisine in Scandinavia and elegant interior design.
Although the Swedes have become more cosmopolitan in recent years – enjoying the occasional lunchtime glass of wine or midweek night out – the norm is still work hard all week and let your hair down at the weekend. Come Friday, be prepared to witness the efficient office worker you lunched with ordering rounds of vanilla martinis until 3am!

Stockholm restaurant reviews
Den Gyldene Freden
Österlånggatan 51
Old Town
08-24 97 60
The name (The Golden Peace) recalls a treaty signed in 1722, the year the restaurant opened its doors to the public. Fantastic food with interesting traditional dishes. Don’t miss the reindeer roast!
Gondolen
Slussen
Södermalm
08-641 70 90
One of Stockholm's top five restaurants and some of the best views of the city. The bridge design literally floats between sea and sky. Modern European cuisine. Perfect for business dinners.
Villa Källhagen
Djurgårdsbrunnsvägen 10
Djurgården
08-665 03 10
A 200-year-old luxury inn with a menu that changes with the seasons. Fireplaces are great for long winter nights. Set amidst Stockholm’s nicest green spaces. Guest rooms and meeting facilities available.
Hotellet
Linnégatan 18
Östermalm
08-442 89 00
An immediate success since its opening in 2003. Two bars, one dining room and a large downstairs lounge, all designed with typical Swedish understatement. Very fashionable. Crowded at the weekend, so expect a wait.
Teatergrillen
Nybrogatan 3
Östermalm
08-545 035 65
Elegant old-fashioned decor, silver trolleys, first-class service and traditional comfort food create genuine atmosphere. Behind the royal theatre, so don't be surprised if you’re dining alongside Sweden’s top Shakespearean actors in full make-up!
Operakällaren
Operahuset, Jakobs torg
City
08-676 58 09
Grand, formal and popular with the international jetset. Located in the opera house, it is said to serve the best meals in the country. Expensive, but well worth it. Outstanding service.

Lux
Primusgatan 116
Lilla Essingen
08-619 01 90
Award-winning eatery set in an ex-factory amidst the posh penthouses of residential Lilla Essingen. Menu and décor are very Scandinavian. Gourmet food and gorgeous views.
Baguz
Norra Agnegatan 43
Kungsholmen
08-653 69 90
Eclectic, maximalist design. Art deco meets American diner: ‘70s colours, ‘30s prints and Japanese textiles. Above all, Baguz is unique, and the Moroccan- and Scandinavian-influenced cuisine is equally surprising. Laid-back chic.
Stiernan
Renstiernas gata 22
Södermalm
08-643 97 33
Stockholm’s latest restaurant sensation. The young and hip mix with more traditional business types. Swedish/European menu is fresh and imaginative. Bar with DJ. Reservation a must.
Restaurangen
Oxtorgsgatan 14
City
08-22 09 52
Often called "the palace of taste". Choose three, five or seven mini-courses from different flavour categories – with co-ordinating wines – by ticking the boxes on your personal menu. An entertaining experience in an elegant setting.
Annakhan
Riddargatan 12
Östermalm
08-440 30 00
The capital’s first gourmet Indian restaurant. Menu is Indian-Pakistani with experimental local influences such as reindeer with Indian spices! The sweet desserts are almost better than the mains. Beautifully decorated.
Bon Lloc
Regeringsgatan 111
City
08-660 60 60
Spanish-influenced gourmet cuisine dubbed "new euro latin". Chef-owner Mathias Dahlgren boasts both a Michelin star and a Bocuse d’Or. Who knew tapas could taste this good? Excellent cigar selection.
